Experience program Ketelbinkie & Kruitloper

The first iron Dutch naval ship, BUFFEL, came from the construction yard in Glasgow, Scotland in 1868. The originally steam-powered ship is now moored in the port of Hellevoetsluis, within the historic fortress.

The Ketelbinkie – Kruitloper experience activities program is one of the possible additions to a visit; there are many options in consultation.

The program is set in 1868, when the new BUFFALO needed crew. Ketelbinkie – Kruitloper participants (from 8 years old) are students on board. Their experiences of the special activities are also in the 21st century
still relevant.

Experience activities aimed at discovering, doing and experiencing

All participants will be met upon arrival and divided into boxes (teams) of preferably four people. Together they follow a preparation and the opening ceremony in 1868. All this in just 20 minutes.

Afterwards, each box with supervisor and worksheets follows a varied activity program spread over several decks of the ship. This takes about an hour and a half.

A communal closing ceremony of approximately 10 minutes brings everyone back to the 21st century.

An addition to the program for groups of 16 or more participants is possible. This addition includes an introduction to the ship based on questions during a tour on board. A break with a soft drink and chips is included.
